Xiwang Village National Scenic and Historic Area for Tourism

  • Description
    • Commodity name: Xiwang Village National Scenic and Historic Area for Tourism

The first batch of China’s famous historical and cultural villages is known as “Chen Family Courtyard” because it served as the family residence of the Chen family, a prominent merchant clan from Qikou. The village boasts a remarkably unique layout: the entire village features five vertical alleys, each symbolizing one of the Five Elements. These alleys are interconnected, and the courtyards are seamlessly linked to one another, creating an extraordinary scene where “the village itself is a single courtyard, and each courtyard is a miniature mountain village.” The village’s castle-like layout ingeniously combines defensive and residential functions; it also preserves a well-developed network of roads and an advanced drainage system.
